WineStax: Redefining Wine Storage with Innovative Design

BrandBase's Stackable Wine Rack Wins Silver A' Design Award

BrandBase's WineStax, a stackable wine rack, has been recognized for its innovative design and functionality. The product's unique properties and high aesthetic values have earned it the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2022.

The WineStax project was initiated with the aim of developing a product for retail promotions that would drive repeat purchase behavior by making it highly collectible. This idea evolved into a practical home accessory that can be easily integrated into any household. Each WineStax unit is an independent entity with three bottle racks, but the units can be easily connected to each other, allowing users to expand their WineStax almost endlessly.

What sets WineStax apart from other wine racks is its adaptability. One unit can carry up to three bottles and can be easily expanded up to ten units. This expandable system gives every user the freedom to tailor the wine rack to their interior, subtly highlighting their wine collection. The racks connect with metal clips, making the joints unnoticeable. The hexagonal shapes lend an ethereal and sophisticated appearance to the product.

The WineStax is composed of four main parts: two pieces of triple-hexagonal elements, a connecting pole with screw thread on both ends, and additional metal clips that ensure the connection between the units. The product's packaging size is 20.5 x 20.5 x 2.5 cm, and it weighs 334 g. The product itself measures 19.5 x 19.5 x 16 cm and weighs 264 g.

The WineStax was designed by a team led by Paul Alberts, with the project starting in 2020 and the final product being launched on the Dutch market in September 2021. The design process involved extensive explanatory and trend research, with the aim of creating a highly engaged, innovative home accessory that fulfills everyday needs and fills a hidden market gap.

The primary challenge faced during the design process was to create a compact but expandable wine rack system while keeping material usage and production costs low. The goals were expanded to include high aesthetic values and reduced packaging size, with the aim of developing an affordable designer item and taking care of the sustainable aspects of the product. The result is a wine rack that adapts to any room, with each WineStax being a single, independent unit with three bottle racks. The units can be easily extended with additional units thanks to the clipping mechanism, giving users the freedom to create their exclusive wine rack.

BrandBase's WineStax is a testament to the power of innovative design in transforming everyday objects into functional and aesthetically pleasing home accessories. The product's unique design and functionality have not only earned it recognition in the form of the Silver A' Design Award but have also set a new standard in wine storage solutions.
